Student writing is strongly encouraged in the English Department.  Teachers emphasize the importance of life-long writing skills.  

       The English teachers also promote independent writing and developmental writing to the students through essay/poetry contests and classroom instruction.  Along with life-skill writing lessons, students keep personal journals and/or response-to-literature journals.
