A Standard of
Excellence
- The Arab City School
System has been selected by SchoolMatch as a school system that has
what parents want. SchoolMatch is a national educational
consulting and research firm that helps parents transferring to a
different part of the country select a public school for their
children.
- Arab Primary, Arab
Elementary and Arab Junior High Schools have been designated as
Alabama Reading Initiative demonstration sites by the Alabama State
Department of Education because of their model programs to help
their students reach 100% literacy. Arab Primary School was
one of the first 16 schools selected for the Reading Initiative.
- Student scores on
the Stanford Achievement Test and ACT continue to rank above state
and national averages. Mathematics and science scores are
among the highest in the state in most grades.
- Arab City Schools
are accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools
(SACS),
a national accreditation system whose member institutions are
required to meet high established standards.
- The administrators
and teachers in the Arab City School system are highly qualified
professional educators. All administrative staff hold AA
certification, the highest certificate granted by the State of
Alabama.
- Among teachers,
almost 70% have earned advanced graduate level degrees.
- The Arab City School System
offers a full complement of Advanced Diploma courses, honors
programs, and dual enrollment/dual credit college courses.
- Guidance and
counseling programs are available at all schools.
- Arab City Schools
System offers strong life skills programs, including D.A.R.E,
Project Alert, Project Reality, Second Step and Be Cool Violence
Prevention.
- Arab City Schools insures students have access to state-of-the-art technology.
All classrooms have networked computers with a variety of software
and internet access. The Board of Education is committed to
providing a significant budget for technology each year.
- Each school has a
modern media center equipped with numerous technologies and managed
by full-time certified media
specialists.

Student
Activities
Thirty-eight athletic teams and numerous
academic support organizations are available for students.
Award-winning band programs including marching, concert, symphonic,
and jazz are available. Choral music and drama are also offered.
The Arab Musical Theatre's annual production has become an area-wide
favorite!
The district offers award-winning academic and extracurricular
organizations which include Junior Ambassadors, Marshall County Youth
Leadership, TKO, Drama Club, Jr. Civitans, SCA, Interact Club, Key
Club, FTA, A Club, Spirit Club, FCA, Venturers' Club, Beta Club,
Scholars' Bowl, French Club, Math Club, Math Teams, Stock Market
Teams, FHA, FCCLA, VICA, HOSA, FBLA, 4-H Club, Spanish Club and Seekers.
The newspaper staff at AHS publishes The Vanguard.
The AJHS communications class publishes The Squire
and broadcasts the WAJH news program daily to every
junior high classroom.

Instructional Programs
- Arab City Schools
offer a comprehensive academic and career technical program that features
a variety of elective course options.
- Nine-week grading
periods and a seven-period school day are utilized at Arab High
School and Arab Junior High School.
- Competitive academic
teams, including state and national title winners in a variety of
areas, are offered.
- Industry Certified
Career Technical Programs are available at Arab High School.
- Computer assisted
instruction is in place for students at all levels. Arab
Junior High School has implemented a modular technology laboratory
to help students explore career fields in technology while
increasing their math and science skills. High speed fiber optics link all school computers,
and each school is connected via a wireless network. Students
have access to a number of computer labs.
- Science labs are
available at all four schools, and a computerized music lab is
located at Arab Elementary School.
- Arab's Community
Education programs include Adopt-a-School, high interest course
offerings, Adult Basic Education, and college credit courses.
Extended Morning, Extended Day, and Extended Summer programs are
available for primary and elementary students.
