Saxon Phonics/Spelling

 Saxon Phonics and Spelling 2 is a success-oriented program that enables most children to develop a solid foundation in phonics and thus become successful readers and spellers.  The phonics series, in keeping with the Saxon philosophy of incremental development and continual review, builds on prior learning.  New learning is presented in a small increments which are reviewed daily for the entire year.  This method of reinforcement provides children with the practice they need to achieve success.

Saxon Math 2

 It is the Saxon philosophy that mathematics builds on prior learning.  In Math 2, new learning is presented in increments, with time provided between increments for practice.  Mathematical strands are integrated throughout the year rather than taught in isolated units.

 Reading and Language (Harcourt)

 The basal reading series from Harcourt is a balanced, comprehensive program that helps students become fluent, lifelong readers. The foundation of the basal series is research-based instruction and practice. It includes the following components: literature, oral language, word identification, vocabulary, comprehension, and writing.

 Science (Harcourt)

 Harcourt Science provides many opportunities for students to develop and maintain the essential skills that form the basis for lifelong learning. The science process skills are important inquiry tools and are essential for investigating the natural world. Opportunities for developing the process skills are embedded throughout Harcourt Science. Harcourt Science also provides students with many opportunities to develop reading, writing, and math skills through meaningful activities and strategies.

 Social Studies (Harcourt)

 Harcourt Social Studies provides opportunities for students to develop map and globe skills, graphing and chart skills, reading and research skills, critical thinking skills, and participation skills, such as working with others, acting responsibly, respecting rules and assuming leadership roles.

 Health (Harcourt)

 Harcourt Health allows students to explore their feelings and senses.  Students discuss being healthy by eating the right foods, taking care of their teeth, taking care of their health, safety, and drug awareness.
