Arab Primary School Computer Lab
The faculty and staff of Arab Primary School realize the importance of developing technology skills in students so that they can compete in an ever-changing world. Students in kindergarten through second grade attend computer lab 30 minutes per week. The lab is staffed by an elementary certified teaching assistant. The lab received a computer upgrade during the 2006-2007 school year and a Promethean board was installed during the 2007-2008 school year.
Kindergarten
Kindergarten students learn the parts of a computer, the correct posture and position at a computer workstation, proper care of the equipment, and the use of a variety of media and technology resources. Along with this information, kindergarteners play games that follow the kindergarten curriculum and improve hand-eye coordination, and they engage in activities for entertainment.
First Grade
First grade students learn about the parts of a computer and different input, output and storage devices, the correct posture and position at a computer workstation, appropriate keyboard techniques, proper care of equipment, use of personal login information, use of a variety of media and technology resources, use of the internet, and use of Microsoft Word. First graders also play games that follow the first grade curriculum, games that provide information, and games for entertainment.
Second Grade
Second grade students learn many things about technology. These concepts include the parts of a computer and different input, output and storage devices, the correct posture and position at a computer workstation, appropriate keyboard techniques, proper care of equipment, use of personal login information, use of a variety of media and technology resources, use of the internet, and use of Microsoft Word. Second graders also play games that are informational, games that follow the second grade curriculum, and games that entertain.
