                                              Have A Heart

The Physical Education Staff at Arab Primary School recognizes that cardiovascular disease is the number one killer in America.  In the United States, cardiovascular fitness continues to decline, body fat percentages continue to increase, and risk factors for heart disease are now known to exist in nearly half of our primary and elementary children.

We, as physical educators, are committed to teaching our students the basic function and care of the heart.  Our goal is to equip our students with the knowledge and habits now that will impact the rest of their lives.  This knowledge will give them the facts necessary to make lifestyle choices that will virtually eliminate their chances of developing coronary heart disease.

The following is a list of ways parents can help us obtain this goal:

  • Display a positive attitude toward daily exercise.
  • Plan family activities that involve exercise.
  • Set the example with your daily exercise.  (This will impact the rest of their life!)
  • Encourage daily participation in P.E. class because we know that exercise has a tremendous impact on academics by helping the brain function better.

Please make sure that students have appropriate shoes for P.E. class (clogs are cute but not practical for movement).
