Mike Shipp, Principal

Michael Shipp is a 1973 graduate of Arab High School. He attended the University of North Alabama on a football scholarship. Mr. Shipp graduated with a bachelors degree in Secondary Education in 1978 and received a masters degree from Jacksonville State University in School Administration in 1994. Since that time, Mr. Shipp has been serving in an administrative capacity either as an assistant principal or athletic director until being named principal at Arab Elementary School in 2006. Mr. Shipp’s educational experiences include a 28 year football coaching career which was highlighted by a Class 4-A State Championship at Litchfield High School in 1986. He and his wife, Wanda, who is also a lifelong teacher, have been married for 29 years and have three children, Miranda, Kyndal, and Evan.

Denise Porch, Assistant Principal

Mrs. Porch received her Masters degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Alabama. Prior to becoming the assistant principal of Arab Elementary School, Mrs. Porch taught mathematics for fourteen years. Mrs. Porch received her BS, MS, and EdS in Secondary Education/Mathematics from the University of Alabama and also earned National Board for Professional Teaching Standards certification in Early Adolescence Mathematics.
