Dr. Carolyn Pistorius

I am excited to be teaching 6th and 8th grade science at Arab Junior High School.

I served as the Assistant Director for the Alabama Math, Science, and Technology Initiative at UAH for over 14 years. I facilitated PD for teachers across the state and worked with our team to improve instruction in mathematics and science. Before this, I was an 8th grade science teacher at Oak Park Middle School. Prior to coming to Alabama, I traveled for a few years and taught in Illinois.

It shall be the policy of the Board that the School District shall provide on a nondiscriminatory basis, equal educational opportunities for students. No student shall be denied the benefits of any educational program or activity on the basis of race, ethnicity, disability, ability, creed, national origin, religion, or gender. All programs offered by schools within the School District shall be open to all students. Equal access will be granted to the Boy Scouts and other designated youth groups consistent with statutory and judicial requirements. The School District may condition access and/or the privilege to participate in certain events and/or activities on the students and parents/guardians executing required waivers and hold harmless agreements which, in the event of accident or injury, would indemnify and hold harmless the School District and its employees harmless from any and all liabilities or claims made by individuals or entities as a result of a students’ participation in a given event.
