Mrs. Jessica Lawrence

I began my teaching career in Huntsville City Schools at Grissom High and Johnson High School (now known as Mae Jemison). In 2016, I was blessed to transition to Arab, where I've taught AP Literature, AP Psychology, English 10, and English 12. I also sponsor the PULSE Club, which focuses on helping create a positive and supportive school culture. My husband still works in Huntsville as an elementary school teacher. We currently don't have any children, unless you count our six rescue cats, but we enjoy spending our free time reading, playing board games, traveling, and trying new foods.

Our most interesting hobby is historical reenactment; summers find us helping crew a replica Viking ship on a lake in Missouri. I love bringing elements of my historical reenactment, which covers a wide time period from the Bronze Age to the Renaissance, into the classroom. Students have worn armor during our Beowulf study and donned Shakespearean garb to study Macbeth, Hamlet, and Julius Caesar. History and literature are intimately linked, and I love building interdisciplinary enthusiasm in the classroom.
