My name is Matthew Chance. I am originally from Mobile, AL but later moved to Zachary, LA, where I graduated from Zachary High School in 1990. I received a B.S. in Finance from Louisiana Tech University (1994), a Master of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (1998), and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Samford University’s Beeson Divinity School (2009). 

After 25 years in full-time ministry, I became a full-time teacher and bi-vocational minister in 2021. I”ve taught 11th grade U.S. History at Brewer High School and now teach 12th grade Government/Economics and 10th grade U.S. History at AHS. I enjoy being involved with the Cross Country team as well as our Arab High Fishing Club. 

I am married to Debbie Chance, who teaches 3rd grade at Arab Elementary. Our children, Sam and Libby, have both been educated in the Arab City School system. When I’m not fulfilling school or church responsibilities, I enjoy hiking and traveling.
