Board Member

Mrs. Collier retired from Arab City Schools with over 28 years of experience as an educator. She served as a Grade-Level Principal, Resource Center Administrator, Attendance Supervisor, At-Risk Coordinator, Purchasing Agent, and classroom teacher. She earned her B.A. degree in Elementary Education from Southern Benedictine College. She also holds an A.A. and M.A. in Elementary Education and Principalship from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. She also earned her Ed.S. in Elementary Education from UAB. She graduated with honors as Magna Cum Laude.
 
Mrs. Collier serves on the Personnel Grievance Board for the City of Arab, is a member of the Arab Historical Society, and teaches a Bible class at the Arab Church of Christ where she is an active member. She began serving on the Arab City School Board in 2019.
 
 Chris Harper

Mr. Chris Harper

Mr. Harper is a lifelong resident of Arab and a 2002 graduate of Arab High School.  After graduating from AHS, Mr. Harper continued his education at Jacksonville State University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance. He also earned a Master of Science in Management from The Florida Institute of Technology.  Mr. Harper is employed by the Department of the Army as a Business Manager with the Combat Capabilities Development Command, Aviation & Missile Center at Redstone Arsenal. 
 
He is married to Kayla Haney Harper and they have two children, both of whom are enrolled in Arab City Schools.  Mr. Harper and his family are active members of Gilliam Springs Baptist Church. He is thrilled to be given the opportunity to serve his community in the capacity of school board member for one of the finest school systems in the state of Alabama.
 

Mr. Russ Williams
Board Member 

Mr. Williams is a 1998 graduate of Arab High School and was employed at AHS from 2004-2016 as a Social Studies teacher and assistant coach.  He was named the 2010 Arab City Schools Secondary Teacher of the Year and was a National Board Certified Teacher.  Mr. Williams earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Auburn University, a Master of Science degree in Secondary Education from the University of Alabama, an Education Specialist degree in Secondary Curriculum from the University of Alabama, and a Juris Doctor degree from the Birmingham School of Law.  He is a member of the Alabama Bar Association.  
 
Mr. Williams is employed as the Division Chair of Social Sciences at Gadsden State Community College where he also serves as a History instructor.  Mr. Williams serves as a consultant, trainer, and AP student study session presenter for A+ College Ready.  He also serves as a consultant and curriculum designer for the Liberty Learning Foundation.
 
He is married to Susanna Williams.  They have one child enrolled in Arab City Schools.  Mr. Williams also serves as a Deacon at the Guntersville Church of Christ.  He values his 12 years as a teacher and coach at Arab High School as the most rewarding of his career.  Thus, he is so grateful to once again serve the school system that made such a positive impact on his life and continues to be a tremendous blessing for his family.

Since retiring from Arab Junior High School where I was a sixth-grade teacher for 25 years, I have been volunteering in the Arab area in various capacities.  I have worked with Arab City Planning Commission on subdivision regulations for 13 years, Arab Police Department as the records filer for 4 years, CASA driver in Marshall County for three years, records recording at EMA office for a brief time, and was a member of MMCN hospital auxiliary as treasurer and gift shop manager for 15 years, and as an IRS VITA volunteer with the free tax program at Arab Senior Center for 22 years.
 
I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from David Lipscomb College and my Master’s Degree from UAB. 
 
I have been married to Bruce Henry for 47 years and we are members of Arab Church of Christ.  We have two daughters Celina Osborne and Emma Lesley and two grandsons Damon and Dixon Lesley.  We all have attended Arab Schools and will continue to support our great school system.
